  7. # MQTTnet
  8. MQTTnet is a high performance .NET library for MQTT based communication. It provides a MQTT client and a MQTT server (broker). The implementation is based on the documentation from <http://mqtt.org/>.
  9. ## Features
  10. ### General
  11. * Async support
  12. * TLS 1.2 support for client and server (but not UWP servers)
  13. * Extensible communication channels (i.e. In-Memory, TCP, TCP+TLS, WS)
  14. * Lightweight (only the low level implementation of MQTT, no overhead)
  15. * Performance optimized (processing ~40.000 messages / second)*
  16. * Interfaces included for mocking and testing
  17. * Access to internal trace messages
  18. * Unit tested (70+ tests)
  19. \* Tested on local machine (Intel i7 8700K) with MQTTnet client and server running in the same process using the TCP channel. The app for verification is part of this repository and stored in _/Tests/MQTTnet.TestApp.NetCore_.
  20. ### Client
  21. * Communication via TCP (+TLS) or WS (WebSocket) supported
  22. * Included core _MqttClient_ with low level functionality
  23. * Also included _ManagedMqttClient_ which maintains the connection and subscriptions automatically. Also application messages are queued and re-scheduled for higher QoS levels automatically.
  24. * Rx support (via another project)
  25. * Compatible with Microsoft Azure IoT Hub
  26. ### Server (broker)
  27. * List of connected clients available
  28. * Supports connected clients with different protocol versions at the same time
  29. * Able to publish its own messages (no loopback client required)
  30. * Able to receive every message (no loopback client required)
  31. * Extensible client credential validation
  32. * Retained messages are supported including persisting via interface methods (own implementation required)
  33. * WebSockets supported (via ASP.NET Core 2.0, separate nuget)
  34. * A custom message interceptor can be added which allows transforming or extending every received application message
  35. * Validate subscriptions and deny subscribing of certain topics depending on requesting clients
  36. ## Supported frameworks
  37. * .NET Standard 1.3+
  38. * .NET Core 1.1+
  39. * .NET Core App 1.1+
  40. * Universal Windows Platform (UWP) 10.0.10240+ (x86, x64, ARM, AnyCPU, Windows 10 IoT Core)
  41. * .NET Framework 4.5.2+ (x86, x64, AnyCPU)
  42. * Mono 5.2+
  43. * Xamarin.Android 7.5+
  44. * Xamarin.iOS 10.14+
  45. ## Supported MQTT versions
  46. * 3.1.1
  47. * 3.1.0
